Trinity Music Exam – Rules & Deadlines

Dear Parents/Students,
Please read the following carefully to understand the process and expectations for the Trinity music exams. These guidelines ensure a smooth experience for every student.

 

📅 Timeline & Deadlines

Student Details Submission

Your child’s details must be submitted at least 3 months before the preferred exam month.

Example: For a July exam, details must be submitted by April.

Registration with Trinity

Once submitted, details are registered with Trinity College London.

It takes approximately 3–4 weeks to receive the video upload/login link.

Video Submission

After receiving the link, students have up to 14 days to record and upload their exam video.

Results

Results are typically declared within 4 weeks of video submission.

Certificates

Digital certificates are issued within 6–8 weeks after results are published.

Note: Trinity has stopped issuing physical certificates. If you would like a printed copy, we can arrange it at an additional cost per certificate.

📌 Important Rules

Only registered students are eligible for the exam. No last-minute additions are allowed.

Video Guidelines (for performance exams):

Videos must be recorded in one take.

No edits, cuts, or enhancements are permitted.

Approved instruments and syllabus material must be used.

Camera should clearly show the student’s face, hands, and instrument.

Dress Code: Smart casuals or formal clothing are recommended for the video.

Accompaniment:

Backing tracks or live accompaniment may be required depending on the exam type.

Please confirm the format with your teacher.

🧾 Fees & Payment

Exam fees must be paid at the time of registration.

Fees vary by grade and are non-refundable once submitted to Trinity.

Please read the following carefully to understand the process and expectations for the MTB (Music Teacher’s Board) exams. These guidelines ensure a smooth experience for every student.

📅 Timeline & Deadlines

Exam Registrations
MTB’s exam registrations are on-demand and open throughout the year. Once the exam registration is completed through the user-friendly online form, the video link is ready to upload immediately. The video link for uploading will stay open for up to 1 year from the date of exam registration.

Results


Marksheets are released as a PDF within 2–3 weeks of exam submission.

Certificates
After receiving the marksheets, the certificates are delivered within 4–6 weeks.
(You can opt for certificates to be delivered directly to the student’s home or to the centre, BodhiTree.)
Free shipping pan-India. There is no extra charge for printed certificates or courier.

🎓 Examiners
MTB exams are guaranteed to be marked by Instrument Specialist Examiners, providing technical feedback specific to the instrument.

📘 Syllabus
MTB Exams accept music from all genres, and the syllabus includes both Western and Indian repertoire.
(MTB’s Indian syllabus features Western staff notation with arrangements of cine music, classical, and regional folk music across 29 states of India.)

Build Your Own Book
You can customise your exam book from an ever-expanding catalogue of both Western and Indian pieces that interest you.

🔓 Flexibility
Music from past and present syllabi of other OFQUAL boards like Trinity, ABRSM, RSL, and LCM is also accepted.
Hence, it is not mandatory to purchase an exam book for each grade. Students can choose pieces from other exam boards and follow the technical work and other components from the MTB Syllabus – available as a free download on the MTB website.

Accompaniment
Backing tracks or live accompaniment may be required depending on the exam components.
All required backing tracks (for duets, reading skills, aural skills) are available as a free download on the MTB website: https://india.mtbexams.com

💰 Fees & Payment

  • Exam fees must be paid at the time of registration.

  • Payment modes: UPI, Debit, Credit card

  • MTB exam fees are at least 30–40% lower than traditional music exam boards in India.

  • Fee includes GST, certificate printing, and courier charges.
